Susan Riggs

Senior Director of State Legislation - Western Division, Government Relations, ASPCA

Susan Riggs is Sr. Director of State Legislation for the ASPCA, covering the states of CA, WA, OR, NV, and CO. Since joining the organization in 2017, she has successfully spearheaded a number of significant pet-friendly housing laws, including statewide pet-friendly laws for affordable housing in CA and NV, a pet-friendly, anti-bsl law for common interest developments in NV, and a prohibition against breed discrimination in property insurance in NV. 

Cori Menkin Herbig

U.S. States Public Policy Director, Mars

Cori Menkin Herbig practice nonprofit landlord tenant law briefly after graduation law school, and then went on to spend 13 years at the ASPCA working on state and federal animal welfare legislation and consumer campaigns against puppy mills.  After that, she spent 5 years leading state legislative campaigns for gun violence prevention at Everytown for Gun Safety. She is currently the Director of US States Public Policy for Mars, Inc. 

Vince Wong

Director of Government Relations, Michelson Philanthropies & Michelson Center For Public Policy; Director of Collective Impact, Michelson Found Animals Foundation

With over two decades in legislative affairs, government relations and civic engagement, Vince Wong serves multiple roles across the Michelson family of organizations as Director of Government Relations for Michelson Philanthropies and the Michelson Center for Public Policy, and Director of Collective Impact for the Michelson Found Animals Foundation. He is the primary liaison to elected officials, government agencies and civic organizations and directs their public policy and legislative initiatives.

Jim Tedford, CAWA

President & CEO, The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement

Jim Tedford accepted his dream job when he joined The Association as President & CEO in June of 2015.  But Jim is no stranger to the organization.  He has been a member for more than 30 years and served as our Board Chairman some twenty years ago.  Jim has been actively engaged in the animal welfare movement for more than 39 years having served as CEO for animal sheltering organizations in New York, Louisiana and Tennessee.  He served as a regional director for The Humane Society of the United States and then spent six years providing direct response marketing services to animal welfare organizations. Jim presents frequently at national and regional conferences on various animal welfare issues, organizational development and not-for-profit management.
