There are hazards in every work environment and shelters have additional, unique risks because they handle and treat animals. It is important for shelters to identify and mitigate potential hazards in their work environment, pandemic or no pandemic. This session will discuss chemical, biological, and physical hazards that are commonly found in shelters and introduce measures to reduce those risks. Webinar attendees will be better able to develop and implement strategies to maximize staff health and safety.
This webinar will especially benefit shelter medical staff, shelter executives, and other operational leaders.
This session is part of the Shelter Medicine series, a collaboration between the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement.

Jeanette O’Quin, DVM, MPH, DACVPM, DABVP (Shelter Medicine)

Dr. Jeanette O’Quin received her DVM and MPH degrees from the Ohio State University. During her career she has worked in private practice, animal shelters, state health departments, and academia. She is a past president of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and co-author of the ASV Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters. Dr. O’Quin is also a recent recipient of the AVMA Animal Welfare Award.
