How do you build a strong monthly giving program that lifts your net revenue?
Successful nonprofits know that consistent, dependable revenue is increasingly valuable—that’s why fundraisers work to sustain monthly giving. But how do you activate and power up a strong monthly giving program that lifts your net revenue?
RKD Group recently formed a task force to study the data around what drives donors to give monthly. They’ll share the findings in this webinar, and provide examples of how to step up to an “always on” approach to sustainer conversion.

We’ll discuss the potential challenges of convincing a group of animal lovers to give money to people to help animals.
For the last two decades, the field has diligently asked people to spay, neuter, and adopt pets to reduce the homeless pet population. Now, a new message centered around trust and keeping pets and people together is gaining traction.
In this webinar, we’ll sculpt and transform this shift into a fundraising offer. RKD Group will discuss the potential challenges of convincing a group of animal lovers to give money to people to help animals, and share what they’ve learned so far about this culture shift.

A live three-hour online course presented by Josh Vaisman.
Can we be happy all the time? Should we be?
Psychologically and physiologically, we can’t be happy all the time -- our brains aren’t built that way. And the desire to buck that nature is harming us in immense ways. There’s a healthier way to be, where we replace the pursuit of happiness with the pursuit of well-being.
This three-hour live, interactive session presented by Josh Vaisman will introduce participants to positive psychology, the scientific study of human flourishing. We’ll explore the challenges of the "Cult of Happiness" and lay out an evidence-based approach for a more nuanced, psychologically healthier path to well-being.
Attendees will leave inspired and equipped to cultivate their own well-being as animal welfare professionals and leaders. Learn how to:
- • Understand the cult of happiness and the destination dilemma
- • Recognize why feeling bad is often normal… and healthy!
- • Explore a variety of evidence-based practices we can use to build a resilient, sustainable mindset for ourselves and our team
This course is approved for 3 hours of CEs for both CAWA and NACA.
Watch this invitation from Josh Vaisman.
This live course is limited to 50 participants. Once the course is full we will open a waitlist.
Josh Vaisman, CCFP, MAPPC
Founder, Flourish Veterinary Consulting
Leading animal welfare organizations is friggin’ hard work, and Josh understands the struggle first-hand. He has been a proud member of the veterinary community since 1998. In 2009, he took the leap into practice management and ownership, and continued in those roles in two small-animal hospitals until 2018.
A lifetime optimist and overall “happy guy,” Josh was shocked to find himself feeling spent, alone, and crying over breakfast while his surprised wife looked on with disbelief. Recognizing he had burnt himself out, he made the difficult decision to step away and recapture his authentic self.
Since then he’s dedicated his professional trajectory to elevating veterinary staff and teams so they can authentically flourish in their work. To that end he’s obtained certificates in areas such as Positive Psychology, Workplace Culture, and Building Effective Teams, and a Masters level education in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology. He co-founded Flourish Veterinary Consulting LLC to bring the knowledge he's obtained to life.
Josh is a frequent speaker with The Association, most recently presenting the keynote at The Spring Conference for Animal Welfare Advancement in June 2022.

The panel will explore the challenges of companion animal transport and what the future holds.
The data from Shelter Animals Count tells us shelters are full right now because there have been more animals entering shelters than leaving them for the past 5 months straight. Traditional methods for alleviating shelter crowding, including transport, are proving difficult to implement due to staffing and volunteer shortages, decreased funding, and other roadblocks.
Animal transport, at its most basic level, is a supply and demand equation. However, there is much more to consider when establishing a successful transport program that benefits communities, adopters, over-crowded source organizations, destination organizations, and most importantly, companion animals. This exclusive roundtable conversation will explore the current challenges of companion animal transport and discuss how shelters are adapting in a COVID world. Questions from the audience will follow the roundtable discussion.
Moderated by Jim Tedford, CAWA, CEO & President, The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement

- Jillian Sergio, Executive Director, Companion Animal Alliance, Louisiana

There are multiple ways to evaluate the health of your fundraising program beyond your total dollars raised. Often times, organizations are focused solely on achieving a dollar goal that they
are not paying close enough attention to other important metrics within their program. Review the top ten indicators every organization should know; discuss strategies to have a positive impact on these metrics; and integrate metrics into staff evaluationII. Planned Giving

Major Gift and\or Capital Campaigns are monumental opportunities for non-profit organizations. I. Fundraising in Animal Welfare
As a unique subset of non-profits, animal welfare organizations have both an opportunity and challenge when raising money. In this module participants will discuss giving trends in animal welfare as well as learn basic fundraising tools and resources that will set an important foundation for the following courses. Participants will review basic fundraising terminology; discuss common donor motivations for giving; and review IRS polices that non-profits must follow.
II. Annual Giving: Building A Sustainable Resource Engine
Simply put, non-profits cannot function without the financial support of others. Our organizations must build long term relationships with donors that will sustain their organizations. During this course, participants will learn the importance of building a robust annual giving plan integrating with their marketing and communications efforts. Participants will: discover necessary components of an annual integrated calendar including direct mail, donor acquisition and digital communication; review and discuss trackable metrics beyond dollars raised to grow their annual giving programs; and discuss strategies to grow sustainer programs (monthly giving).
III. Special Events
Special events play an important role at every organization as they can be both important fundraising and friend raising tools. Although special events can be very labor intensive for the organization, there are ways to make these events both effective and efficient. During this course, participants will: review and discuss the components of a special events plan; discuss appropriate post-event follow up; discover creative ways to raise funds beyond the typical gala format.
IV. Stewardship & Donor Relations
Showing appreciation to donors in the number one way to ensure donors keep giving to your organization. While thank you letters are important, effective stewardship is much more than a simple letter. During this course, participants will: discover new, unique ways to steward donors to ensure donor retention; discuss effective language for stewardship messages; and review best practices and real-life examples of effective messaging.
V. Digital Fundraising & Strategies
Although online gifts account for less than 10% of all donations, having a digital strategy is an important component of any fundraising plan. Organizations must have a digital presence across multiple platforms. Organizations must also strategize to maximize their exposure to grow their fundraising efforts. Participants will: discuss integrating a digital strategy within their fundraising strategies; gain an understanding of how Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other platforms are used for digital presence and fundraising; and review best practice cases.
VI. Generational Giving
A significant amount of attention has been given to the millennial generation by non-profit organizations. While these donors may not be giving a significant amount of money today, there is opportunity in this sector. During this course, participants will: review strategies for donor acquisition of millennial donors; discuss the importance of donor retention and highlight current best practices for this sector; and review and discuss research relating to this sector of donors and prospects.
